The Centre for Crime and Justice Studies invites you to this forthcoming national conference taking place on the 21st June 2006 organised with the support of the government's Care Services Improvement Partnership (CSIP), Health and Social Care in Criminal Justice Programme and the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health.

The event at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), Central London, will be an excellent opportunity for practitioners, academics, policy makers and voluntary sector organisations to come together to assess current developments and practice in the area of mental health and criminal justice. Recognising that this is a time of great change, it is an ideal moment to reflect on the government's reform agenda, to examine different approaches to meeting the needs of particular groups and to consider future challenges and opportunities.

The conference will give you an opportunity to hear presentations by some of the key practitioners, policy makers and academics in the field including:

  • Kieran Murphy, Programme Director, Health and Offender Partnerships
  • Deputy Assistant Commissioner Brian Paddick, Mental Health Lead, ACPO
  • Professor Phillip Fennel, Cardiff University
  • Sean Duggan, Programme Lead, Health and Social Care in Criminal Justice
  • Julian Corner, Revolving Doors Agency
  • David Ramsbotham, Former Chief Inspector of Prisons

As a delegate you will be able to attend two workshops of your choice. Please take a look at the attached conference flyer (pdf format, 205kb) for the full list of workshops and a booking form. You can also use the online booking form

Group discounts for six or more delegates from one organisation are available, please contact us for further details at the time of booking.

If you are unable to attend please ensure that your organisation is represented by forwarding the attached flyer to your colleagues.
